November 4th was a momentous empowering occasion for America no matter what your political views. It proved without a doubt, one could achieve their dreams with hard work. No matter what your political views, we should all join in celebrating the American Dream. Both candidates in their speeches, eloquently struck the right cords. It was a proud time to be an American.
In two years of gruelling campaigning, Barack has fended off personal attacks without blinking. Accused of being un-American, Obama responded with uncommon ease and no traces of anger. Barack redefined "never let them see you sweat". It was apparent while addressing a nation wrestling with a crippling economic collapse (a wavering market, that will hopefully gain strength with the security of a leader) and maintaining an iron strength during the debates, Obama remained calm and steadfast.
So, who is the real Obama, the man who could be the country's first black president?
Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961, the son of a black father from Kenya and a white mother from Kansas who met at the University of Hawaii. He was to say later that they "weren't well-off or well-known, but shared a belief that in America, their son could achieve whatever he put his mind to."
His parents separated when he was 2 and were subsequently divorced. His mother remarried and moved to Indonesia, where Obama spent ages 6 through 10. He returned to Hawaii for high school, then went to Columbia University and Harvard law school, where he made headlines as the first black president of the Harvard Law Review - seen as a stepping stone to any number of career opportunities.
He had earlier worked in Chicago as a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods. Practicing civil rights law back in Chicago after Harvard, Obama's advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years.
Obama's rise from obscure state legislator to presidential candidate was nothing short of meteoric. In 2004, as the Democratic nominee for a US Senate seat from Illinois, Obama got an unusual opportunity to deliver a prime-time address to the party's national convention.
In words that are now standard components of his presidential speech, Obama said: 'There is not a liberal America and a conservative America - there's the United States of America.'
Although party leaders placed him on the podium simply to get more exposure for his Senate race, they were bowled over by his ability to command a crowd. My dear friend and early Obama supporter, John Gorman (R-Austin) often referred to Obama as a "Rock Star" and "Not since John Kennedy has there been such a following" Before long, Obama was recognized as THE speech maker on the Democratic party, cultivating a following that would soon urge him to bid for the presidency as the war in Iraq spiralled out of control.
His eloquence has always won him admirers - even the woman who was to become his wife in 1992, Michelle Obama, who was at first skeptical of the Harvard hotshot who came to intern in her high-power law firm in Chicago.
In early 2007, with mounting US casualties in Iraq eroding Republican fortunes, Obama formed a committee to explore his presidential bid, just days before Senator Hillary Clinton did the same.
For the first time in history, a black man and a woman would battle it out for their party's presidential nomination, a race that went to the bitter end in June, when Obama emerged the winner.
Obama leads in most polls against McCain, buoyed by financial uncertainty and his own reassuring presence that impressed admirers such as Colin Powell, the decorated retired four-star general, Bush's one-time secretary of state and one of the nation's leading Republican figures.
Endorsing Obama, Powell turned the tables on his own party, saying he was uneasy about McCain's erratic reactions during the finance crisis.
Powell, an African American, cited Obama's 'ability to inspire' and called him a 'transformational figure' who could bring about a 'generational change.'
I have to admit, this moved me. All Americans should celebrate the shedding of racism. This proves citizens should not judge a man by the color of his skin but his character. Congratulations to you, President elect Obama, First Lady Michelle and your beautiful girls.
This is a time where all Americans should band together and work to unite during this new beginning and fresh start.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I should say- I am pleased, because I did vote for him. But, whether you did or not this is historical and amazing. An African American president. How amazing and beautiful! My roommate and I were watching his speech last night and started crying, because we were so hopeful and proud of America.
I know you didn't support him, but I think it is wonderful that you have taken to your blog to say that it is time for us to unite. I agree! May we all be able to come together for the sake of our country.
:*) You're not a red American or a blue American, you're a true American.
Hope, change, progress. That's what this country is all about.
XOXO
LW
Your words are exactly what America should be all about... coming together, supporting our leaders, and working, as a Country, for a better future.
Well said!
My dislike of Obama has nothing to do with what race he is. He is on the left and he is not my President. I think he is full of hot air, no rock star in my book. I find your post to be disgusting. Let's see if he really does anything as President, I doubt it.
Let me take that back, the post is not disgusting, it is very naive.
All nice Cum-bi-yah (sp?) comments so far. However, your first line.... I almost had to stop there, "November 4th was a momentous empowering occasion for America no matter what your political views" ...Empowering... what foolish thinking. The UN wanted him and most all the rest of the world did too. Why? ...it makes them stronger. You can be the big-boy on the block and still be nice- that's what we WERE.
Also, when you said, "have to admit, this moved me. All Americans should celebrate the shedding of racism. This proves citizens should not judge a man by the color of his skin but his character."
Two thoughts came to mind;
1. You're easily moved.
2. Obama is as racist as the next red, redneck. Hello? ...20 years with the 'reverend Wright spewing his anti-white hypocritical stuff. Come on- read the Mrs, O's thesis- she's got white guilt and she's black.
Don't let white guilt overtake you. You sound intelligent enough to discern things out.
Miss KK, the more I read your blog the more I love you.
I agree, come together??? I don't think so... is America in for a world of trouble.... yes we are.
I think your fairy tail River Oaks life is going to be changing sweety, I am sure your husband is sweating. I don't know any Dem's in the oil bness....
The most obvious racism is this election. Obama captured something like 98% of the black vote. Now, tell me who is being discriminatory here... blacks or whites?
I am glad he won. I voted for him, even though I'm more of a Republican (Capitalist, really). Maybe now this will take the wind out of the sails of all those Angry Black Men who say the system works against them.
You are not a very smart capitalist if you voted for Osama Obama.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but, frankly, I loved your post.! :) You're absolutely right, now is the time to band together & unite, despite our differences! Looking forward to our lunch next week with "Momma" :)
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but, frankly, I loved your post! You're absolutely right, now is the time to unite & band together, despite our differences - otherwise we're going to be in a lot more trouble than we already are! BTW - looking forward to our lunch with "Momma" next week! :)
I know that every one is entitled to their opinion, but please. Leave KK ALONE! She has made her support for McCain very clear and her disappointment in the left very clear. The fact that she graciously writes such an eloquent and uniting post speaks volumes about how she is trying to unite us rather than divide. good for her, and shame on others who refuse. The election is over, lets try to come together and make America the best it can be! Thanks, Kristi, for doing your part!!
It's time to work for the GOP and get them back in office !!!!
I did not support BHO for President...But he is OUR President. Kristi is correct in stating it’s time we all band together and support the LEADER of our country. Everyone is entitled to their opinions...Why not give the man a chance...you never know he may turn out to be the greatest President ever. The snarky re: River Oaks unfortunate.
I agree with theloudcorral and texas. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and it's for diferring opinions that we find balance. However, unless delivered with substance it comes across only as a put-down or naive remark. So I think those putting KK down and those who agree with her, like myself, need to lay off.
Kristi -- Thanks for being you. Although you and I are on different spectrums of everything, I still enjoy reading your blog and reading what you have to say.
This is the first presidential candidate that I have disliked. I voted for Clinton and didn't see a lot wrong with him until he started getting blow jobs under the desk. I don't trust OSAMA-OBAMA, I don't like the way he talked to Joe the Plumber. I work hard for my money and I will be dammed if I am going to give it to welfare recipients. In fact I started working when I was 12 years old babysitting. I was just listening to Michael Berry, 80% of his listeners feel the way I do and he was chastizing them. I won't listen to him anymore. What kind of person would I be if I have valid reasons to dislike someone, i.e. OSAMA OBAMA. My valid reasons are he went to Reverend Wrights church, he hung out with terrorists, he won't produce his birth certificate and he wants to be Robin Hood, rob from the rich and give to the poor. I don't care if he is pink, I won't vote for or support someone with his convictions.
We (the people of this country) owe the man the respect of the office he was elected to.
Well said Kristi! I read your blog daily and have even more true admiration for you after reading this post.
Respect has to be earned. It is not commanded... no matter WHO you are.
Live in rural North Carolina and you will know that racism is ALIVE and THRIVING! It is not the whites but the Blacks! They see Obama as their president...so I guess they have never had a president before? I am a white female and I teach in a public high school and you would not believe the attitudes that the young blacks have toward whites and this election. One black woman wrote on Facebook "that we would not give them 40 acres and a mule but they got 50 states and the Whitehouse." Pray for America.
Obama makes no bones about his plans to go on a tax rampage. Not only would he increase the capital-gains tax rate from 15 percent to as much as 28 percent, he wants to allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which effectively raises taxes on Americans by tens of billions of dollars.
He also wants to do away with the $102,000 FICA payroll tax cap, which means anyone making over $102,000 would pay an additional 7 percent in taxes on earned income
I agree, right now I have no respect for Obama.
Again, naive thinking.
Honestly I was expecting to check into your blog today and find you whining about how McCain was not given a fair shake. (For the record, I do not think the media was good to McCain)
I was very proud of what you wrote. It speaks magnitudes of your class
Charisma = charm / fluff / icing / slick car salesman like approach
eloquent = talking around the topic, spinning the topic, and speaking above your paygrade because you are incapable of being frank and forthcoming
He is anything but frank and forward, because he is definately concealing his true nature, faith, beliefs, agenda, ect ect ect ect. A man who hides these things should not under any circumstances be trusted.
Also he has not a drop of African American decendent blood in him. He has NOT ONE single drop of former African transported to America in him. All of his blood lines trace elsewhere, particularly to Arabic roots (look it up).
and the fact he is speaking for anyone after only being in office for a whopping 143 days is disturbing, you can't make manager at Mc D's in that time frame.
I love your blog!!! You are a fantastic storyteller
Kristi your blog is always an eye opener on views that some dont see.. i too hope that we can all unite in this time... it will take the Country as a whole to bring it back to Greatness... Negative attitudes will get us nowhere... We may not like our boss, teacher, at times our spouses or parents, now even our President elect... but we come together and work it out and the end result is always the better...
Wow. You are a great storyteller, anon is right. As for what is eloquent storytelling and what is truth time will tell. I am just shocked (YES! Naive=me thinking we were all equals!) at the racism and stupidity this election has brought to the forefront. nosama nobama? What is that? middle-eastern blood is bad? a period of thai schooling makes him a muslim? (is Muslim bad? How about Jew? Should we eradicate them too while you're at it?) Community organizer is a bad c.v.? Why is it that I keep hearing white people say "Pray, we need to pray for our country." Okay. Why? Why are you so afraid and what is behind the "prayer" code there, white friend? I did a lot of praying while Bush was in office, even though I stood behind someone I never voted for, and it didn't make him any smarter. -Steph p/s yes, there are dems in the o&g world! Make you a deal: We'll help Pelosi learn that natural gas is a fossil fuel. Will you teach Bush to say nuclear?
I doubt Obama will make good on any of his promises, all the people that voted for him will be mad and have egg on face. All of the "let's unite" people will have egg on face.
I don't know any Dem's in the O&G field, not any successful ones anyway.
I can say Biodesiel because I make it in my garage, but I sure don't want the government to be involved. Most restaurants won't recycle their used veggie oil because they are afraid of getting fined by the city. So... why anyone wants more government in our lives is a stupid idea. And why anyone would support or vote for someone that promises more government in my opinion is stupid, I could care less what color or religion you are.
I rarely respond to blog posts. In fact this maybe a first.
I sent a congrats to my two dear friends, John Gorman in Austin and Kent Potter in Oklahoma. Both of these men believed in this candidate long before he was "that one" (throwing $25,000 plate dinners in their homes) It had to be a heartwarming experience for them, like so many others to see history being made.
I admit it was moving for me to watch history being made. His acceptance speech was regal and eloquent -- that of a leader. In a total bipartisan view, I had tears rolling down my face as I could feel change happening before us. I saved all my newspapers the following day for my daughter's treasure chest.
I was sad Barack's Grandmother did not make it just one more day to enjoy his victory.
We are all in this together, the highest roads should be taken at every turn. We live in the greatest country in the world, embrace it and join together to make a united front. It seems to me it takes a lot more energy to work towards a negative goal.
As I have reiterated, McCain was NOT in my top three choices, but I supported my party. Alas, when Colin Powell endorsed BHO this was strong for me personally. When I heard him speak, I knew instantly it had nothing to do with racial division - he was making his decision based on heartfelt logic.
For the record, usually the O & G business does lean towards the Right, but two of President Elect Obama's biggest fundraisers in Houston (Thrash's and Cavnar's) are in the Energy Business.
I dont think the right is going to throw fundraisers for NOBAMA
I don't agree with your assesment of Colin Powell's endorsement. I really felt bad for McCain on that one, a hugh stab in the back, I felt his reasons were weak.
The dow is plummeting again. All the people that voted for NOBAMA I guess didn't think about all the people that were going to cash out and send the stock market down again.
I think the grandmother thing was just another staged drama.
Kristi I will be interested in checking back in with you over the next four years how you feel about having a "united front" when NOBAMA takes away your private jet, black card, ten carat diamond and you are decorating your mansion from Target!
I hope for all of us it does not come to that but I think you need to stop being naive and realize this man as captain of the ship will be a disaster!!!!
Socialists are NOT good for SOCIALITES!!!!
in response to "hell No" -- lay off, I think it is refreshing to hear someone say "ok my team did not win but I am moving on"
Reread what you wrote you are punishing her for having a nice lifestyle???
The dogmatic attitude is so stale
All that believed in his "Hope & Change"BS are going to be real disappointed. The spin has started already. He is back stroking on the many promises he made to make life perfect in this terrible country we have. The only real change we will see is in the paychecks.Guarenteed to be smaller after congress gets started on them.Hope in your heart and less change in your pockets.
What you will see from the Obama administration is "competence."
How comforting to know that there will soon be a new FEMA Director.
finalanswer -You know, it's sad and and funny in a tragic way . These pathetic people who voted for "change" are going to get "change" that will make their lives so miserable ,that they will curse the day they elected this man.Our economy will be in a state the likes, none of this generation have ever witnessed.Companies that he brags about taxing to the max ,will simply take their business over seas, leaving these Obamabots scratching their heard as to "where didi all the jobs go ,man!"
That said ,those that calmored for "spreading the wealth". You'd better put a bed at your mailbox and live there ,because you're going to have a long ,long wait for "your Govment money". Those reparation checks for the slavery that their GREAT,GREAT grandaddies were in ,will have to be sent out first. And sent out again and again and again. Remember the Katrina people? We're still taking care of them. Multiply that by millions. Are you still with me? All of the other "govment entitlement programs" checks , for increased welfare benefits will have to be sent out. The only people who will have jobs will be the postal service employees. In between times ,unifroms will have to be boought and given to the "Civilian Support Forse" that he wants all over this country.KGB? Gestapo? No point in asking them to wake up . They happily threw away their freedoms and everyone else's by "doin their civic duty".UNfortunatly those of us ,who are aware of what is coming will have to suffer along with them.. God help us all.
All aboard!!!! now the libs get to see what kind of change they'll really get. Experience mattered and John McCain and Sarah Palin had that in spades, and that wasn't enough?
I know deep inside myself that McCain IS a great man, and he would have made a great president. Obama is still a huge question mark - his career is so short and undistinguished that all we have to go on is his campaign propaganda. Too bad McCain had to face the long odds of a)competing with the first African-American - er, half-white, half-black - U.S. presidential candidate in history b)inheriting the worst economic crisis since the Depression and c)an immensely popular incumbent from his own party. It doesn't matter how good or bad your campaign is (and McCain's wasn't impressive) ... you can't fight history. McCain is such a great man that he referred to Obama as "my president." Contrast that with all those Dumbocrats who put "Bush is Not My President" bumperstickers on their cars and were so deeply afflicted with Bush Derangement Syndrome that they swore they'd leave the country if their candidate didn't win the Oval Office. Is this not the biggest cover-up of the campaign? Perhaps one or two of those reporters who swarmed Alaska, trying to find dirt on Palin, might have spent more time in Kenya and Hawaii, looking into Obama's background, or maybe interviewing his Kenyan grandmother?
Someone sent me your blog and I have to admit I have spent the WHOLE day reading it. I must say I find it wildly entertaining and decadent
To all my good friends. We are going to be ok. This has happened 43 other times in the past. And each time, one group of Americans are upset, but also each time America wakes up the next day and continues to be the greatest country in the world. You know now how Democrats have felt since 2000. Also, remember that Obama is a President, and if he sucks, we can get rid of him in just 4 short years. Fears. Obama isn't a Muslim, and if he was it shouldn't matter. Obama isn't a terrorist. It is silly if you think that. Just because I got an email saying that because Roswell is in Arizona McCain is an alien doesn't mean it is true. Obama isn't for the killing of babies. He, like all of us, wants to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies. If we could just come together and fight for that it would be so much better than just fighting each other. yes, he is pro choice, because if we don't lessen the number of unwanted babies, women are going to have abortions anyway. And if they are not legal, then they are going to go to shady places with shady people and could die. It is a hard subject, but we need to look for commonalities instead of just flaming at each other. Obama is not for spreading the wealth. He wants to turn back Bush's tax cuts. That will only affect 5% of America. And for them it will not be that much other. He is a democrat, so yes, he will expand social programs. But I have taught in a place where we have to do something, because those kids are hurting, and just saying pull yourself up by your bootstraps isn't going to keep them warm and clothed this winter. YEs, some poor people take advantage of the situation. But think of all the rich people who take advantage of tax breaks and lobbying. Truths. Obama is a good man. I am not brainwashed. We are the greatest country in the world. We have just got a little better, give it a chance before you decide leave us. McCain is a great American and deserves to be President. Time heals all wounds. God Bless America.
fantastic blog, Kristi. I am a big fan. I feel like I get Newsweek meets People magazine. Its a fun escape and has opened my eyes, at the same time. Your family is gorgeous
AMEN to billye.
Excuse me, I heard Obama say to Joe the plumber, I want to spread the wealth, so if that is not what he meant why did he say it?? explain that
hell no to bho... you are right on.
We have never had a candidate that had the socialist retoric that Obama has. We are in for trouble.
Last night was truly a historic occasion: For only the second time in her adult life, Michelle Obama was proud of her country!
The big loser of this election is Colin Powell, whose last-minute endorsement of Obama put the Illinois senator over the top. Powell was probably at home last night, yelling at his TV, "Are you KIDDING me? That endorsement was sarcastic!"
The winner, of course, is Obama, who must be excited because now he can start hanging out in public with Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright again. John McCain is a winner because he can resume buying more houses.
And we're all winners because we will never again have to hear McCain say, "my friends."
After Bill Clinton won the 1992 presidential election, Hillary Clinton immediately announced that, henceforth, she would be known as "Hillary Rodham Clinton." So maybe Obama can now become B. Hussein Obama, his rightful name.
This was such an enormous Democratic year that even John Murtha won his congressional seat in Pennsylvania after calling his constituents racists. It turns out they're not racists -- they're retards. Question: What exactly would one have to say to alienate Pennsylvanians? That Joe Paterno should retire?
Apparently Florida voters didn't mind Obama's palling around with Palestinian activist Rashid Khalidi and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, either. There must be a whole bunch of retired Pennsylvania Jews down there.
Have you ever noticed that whenever Democrats lose presidential elections, they always blame it on the personal qualities of their candidate? Kerry was a dork, Gore was a stiff, Dukakis was a bloodless android, Mondale was a sad sack.
This blame-the-messenger thesis allows Democrats to conclude that their message was fine -- nothing should be changed! The American people are clamoring for higher taxes, big government, a defeatist foreign policy, gay marriage, the whole magilla. It was just this particular candidate's personality.
Republicans lost this presidential election, and I don't blame the messenger; I blame the message. How could Republicans go after B. Hussein Obama (as he is now known) on planning to bankrupt the coal companies when McCain supports the exact same cap and trade policies and earnestly believes in global warming?
How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver's licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy?
How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so?
How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the "rich," when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?
And why should Republican activists slave away working for McCain when he has personally, viciously attacked: John O'Neill and the Swift Boat Veterans, National Right to Life director Doug Johnson, evangelical pastors Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and John Hagee, various conservative talk radio hosts, the Tennessee Republican Party and on and on and on?
As liberal Democrat E.J. Dionne Jr. exuded about McCain in The Washington Post during the Republican primaries, "John McCain is feared by Democrats and liked by independents." Dionne proclaimed that McCain "may be the one Republican who can rescue his party from the undertow of the Bush years."
Similarly, after unelectable, ultraconservative Reagan won two landslide victories, James Reston of The New York Times gave the same advice to Vice President George H.W. Bush: Stop being conservative! Bush was "a good man," Reston said in 1988, "and might run a strong campaign if liberated from Mr. Reagan's coattails."
Roll that phrase around a bit -- "liberated from Mr. Reagan's coattails." This is why it takes so long to read the Times -- you have to keep reading the same paragraph over again to see if you missed a word.
Bush, of course, rode Reagan's ultraconservative coattails to victory, then snipped those coattails by raising taxes and was soundly defeated four years later.
I keep trying to get Democrats to take my advice (stop being so crazy), but they never listen to me. Why do Republicans take the advice of their enemies?
How many times do we have to run this experiment before Republican primary voters learn that "moderate," "independent," "maverick" Republicans never win, and right-wing Republicans never lose?
Indeed, the only good thing about McCain is that he gave us a genuine conservative, Sarah Palin. He's like one of those insects that lives just long enough to reproduce so that the species can survive. That's why a lot of us are referring to Sarah as "The One" these days.
Like Sarah Connor in "The Terminator," Sarah Palin is destined to give birth to a new movement. That's why the Democrats are trying to kill her. And Arnold Schwarzenegger is involved somehow, too. Good Lord, I'm tired.
After showing nearly superhuman restraint throughout this campaign, which was lost the night McCain won the California primary, I am now liberated to announce that all I care about is hunting down and punishing every Republican who voted for McCain in the primaries. I have a list and am prepared to produce the names of every person who told me he was voting for McCain to the proper authorities.
We'll start with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Florida Gov. Charlie Crist. Then we shall march through the states of New Hampshire and South Carolina -- states that must never, ever be allowed to hold early Republican primaries again.
For now, we have a new president-elect. In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.
Starting tomorrow, if not sooner.
If the real Ann Coulter is commenting on this blog, she is more pathetic than she appears. We don't need to worry about Obama. He will be assassinated just like MLK, Jr. Joe Biden will be the problem. I agree...Obama is a half-breed, full of shit liberal. Wow, I can't wait to give my money to support crack-head babies and other social services. KK: don't knock yourself out responding to comments. We're so privileged that you did.
A. Hart Coulter, what does it matter that his middle name is Hussein? Hussein means handsome, smart one. Use it all you want, your ranting is tiresome and rings hollow.
People like you are disgusting. Give me a freaking break. You have this fabulous life and you are secretly pissed you have to pay more taxes.
I'm not surprised you have to moderate your comments either. I can only imagine some of the feedback you get.
Someone sent me your blog and they actually liked what you wrote. I can see straight through your kind and it makes me want to vomit
OK, make this the second time I have replied to a comment. WOW! I had NO IDEA my post would strike such a fire in so many.
I actually post 99 pct of comments I get. Actually most people that stop by and read my blog are complimentary.
If I can blog and put my life out there, then I need to have a thick skin. I do this because I do not have the time or patience to scrapbook. I personally think I am a better writer than I am paper cutter!
I am sorry you feel I was not sincere in my words about President elect Obama, but I was very moved. For me personally, it was a proud time to be an American.
I grew up (obviously) in the deep South quite a few years after segregation. Alas, I vividly recall signs still posted in our towns local little grocery store in the back that said "Colored" and "whites"
That was long before my time, but it always left a burning memory in my head.
I know in my heart you know nothing about me or anything I have ever walked with, so when you judge me you cannot make a logical, educated opinion.
Hence, unless my accountant posted this you have no idea about my tax bracket. Actually, I know it is not my accountant because I have an ISP tracker on my website and I know exactly who posts and where they are from. I know for a FACT you and I do not know one another, since I do not know anyone from the town in Ohio where you are from.
I sincerely hope this is the kind of division we can overcome as a country.
Hope you will enjoy this time as much as I intend too
What a patriot and lover of our country you are.
P.S. The wealthiest people I know are Dems in theAwl Bidness. People are so fucking stupid. You, however, are brilliant and I love you.
Last one... once again, the anonymous are chicken shit posters who are too afraid to make themselves known.
my goodness...your blog definitely sparked some opinions! i agree with you kristi, as an american who voted for McCain, we should all come together to support our new president-elect and his family. congrats obama!
Your commenters are scary!
I love it that you stir it up -- I go to some of these blogs and they are so boring.
First of all Kristi - it isn't hard to figure out your tax bracket, if you have any internet savy at all (sorry I used to be an Internal Auditor so I have some investigative skills). But... on the other hand, I am sure your husband has worked long and hard for what he has and you know what they say, behind every good man is a good woman so I am sure you are instrumental with his success. That's what bothers me about BHO so much, we have worked hard and here is someone who wants to take it away. My husband is in the oil business and we do well, but have to deal with the ups and downs. I was an oil and gas accountant and did very well until the downfall of Enron. After that I managed a stock related business who was harrassed and audited continually by the SEC. I can't believe some of those people actually had law degrees, I ran circles around them. The owner of the company got tired of being audited, closed down the company and retired to Florida, I couldn't blame him. So. I retired, volunteered which I got tired of and am now teaching. Most teachers are dems and want something from the government for nothing which sickens me. Our great friends and neighbors mother and father came from Italy where they were doctors. They left Italy because they could get no where in a socialist society. The father has passed but at 83 years old the mother still reads xrays at the VA hospital. She is a fascinating woman and I am thrilled to attend any of their family functions because she always has young doctors attending whom she is sponsoring from Italy. She also has friends who are famous heart surgeons anf fascinating people to talk to. The young docs that she sponsors have to take tests to become doctors here and they are not easy. This family invested in real estate a long time ago and one daughter (lives in RO) married one of the original Spindletop families so in my opinion, they have lived the American Dream. My biggest fear is that my son who is 13 years old will never see the American Dream. When BHO starts talking about "spreading the wealth" I go balistic. I won't be quiet about how I feel, I have signs in my yard that tell you my opinions, I am not taking down my NOBAMA sign. Most people walking by my house stop to tell me that they love my sign. The weekend before the election we were at our vacation home on the San Bernard River, I wore my NOBAMA keep the change t shirt, I can't tell you how many people asked me where I got the shirt. Kristi I admire you for stating your views, my mom hangs out with lots of RO woman and then would rather hang out with us, she says all they talk about is face lifts (mom is 75) and shopping. My mom and one other woman are the committee to ban bandit signs for the City of Houston and she and my son pick up signs that litter our neighborhood every day. She is also involved with TFIR. She is retired and has lots of capital gains, the notion that BHO will raise the capital gains tax scares her to death. My mother lived in Baton Rouge for 20 years and mentored poor black women, she worked at a department store and would get the women jobs, help dress them and help them with birth control, 9 times out of 10 the women got pregnant, quit their jobs and moved back home to their mothers and filed for wealfare. In my opinion, these are the people that voted for BHO, the ones that are in my opnion stuck in a cycle of poverty and depending on the government. I don't blame these people, I blame the government for creating what I call, "the welfare state". It is a hugh problem, created by the government. That is why I am against democrates and creating more government. I talk to the lady that does my nails, her business in West U has fallen to nothing, no one here is spending money. She is scared and angry, angry at the people who file for welfare. She has one child and is a single mom and works long hard hours to support him while she feels others just stay home and are lazy and collect welfare. We live one mile from Reliant stadium. We saw the Katrina victims wandering our streets, sleeping in the city park behind our house, complaining that the government was there for them. I was two years old when Carla hit Houston, my mother tells me, everyone cleaned up their own mess, there was no FEMA, no one expected the government to babysit them. I am disappointed in our society and what it has become. I want the government to butt out. I will post my name, I don't care. I enjoy reading the comments here.

WOW LAST TIME YOU STRUCK A CORD IN THIS MANY PEOPLE WAS YOUR GOING PRIVATE POST OR WHEN YOU SPENT TIME ON THE YACHT
I THINK ALL THE ANONYMOUS PEOPLE ARE YELLOW BELLIES NOT YELLOW DOGS
I love the San Bernard too, spend as many weekends as I can there. We were so upset last weekend to find our favorite restaurant at the swing bridge in Sargant, Tuttles Krusty Pelican still closed due to flooding. We did question our good friend Bob and he told us about River Bend restaurant on the Colorado river. So we took a boat ride past the first swing bridge to the second swing bridge at Matagorda and on to the Colorado river. The food was great and the bottle nose dolphins were swimming in front of the restaurant. After we finished, we followed them all the way to the gulf, they play with us and come 5 feet from the boat sometimes, your little Sinclair would get a real thrill out of that I am sure. There are always at least 15 of them swimming down close to Quintana. I am an avid water skier and skied all year round in my wet suit last year. Last weekend the river was calm and got in some great skiing. Lots of McCain supporters at the SBR too !!! and if you look at the website www.sanbernardriver.com you will see they are getting ready to dredge the mouth.
My (late) Dad's bf, Pete founded Dido's and many decades ago my Dad developed Caney Creek
Pure fun then.....no such thing as child predators, drug dealers...just good clean living
GO AGGIES!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOP
We know Pete, nice guy and the people that took over Dido's live a block away from us over here in wanna be yuppie town south of west U. They have had a rough go of getting the restaurant back on track. Last weekend we ate there, the food was better and they had a good band, dog town blues. It's a beautiful spot, the food has not always been great. We have been down to Caney Creek but not spent too much time there, my favorite skiing spot is in front of the High Five dive, right under the 2611 bridge, we have met some of our best friends there. We dream of buying that place and making it like River Bend. someday.......
We used to drag out boat every weekend down to the river and cry when we had to come home, some times we stayed at the Roses and the River Bed and Breakfast, the Hosacks are like our second parents. There wasn't much for sale and we ended up with ten acres and a mobile home (I grew up in Briargrove and Tanglewood) I had never stepped foot in a mobile home. The people that owned the land let some relatives live there for free, unfortuately one of the men was a convicted child molestor. After all the neighbors were calculating how much they could contribute to buy the place and run the child molester off, we found the owner from a friend of a friend and made an offer. The neighbors greeted us with open arms the first time we drove in the driveway and they are some of our most devoted and best friends. We are a block from the river but still looking for a river house. Love the community.
My Dad was the best man in Pete's wedding almost 6o years ago
Hence, as some of my past posts mention I grew up on a shipyard in Freeport -- Pete was a fisherman from the "old country" (Slov)
Fine, hardworking family -- proud with great character and defined family values
I was Sinclair's age maybe a wee older when Pete and his wife bought that place and I remember spending all summer down there each year as my Dad would send some of his construction equipment (generators before there was power)
Remembering that time, the water was like pure glass, clear and cool. There was no humidity only the beautiful fairytale season of summer. We ran without shoes (and Mommas only worried about grass snakes, not staph infections)
I would LOVE nothing more than to come down and bring Sinclair and show her what I grew up with
I got so mad at my husband this week he got Sinclair started on video games (for "hand-eye coordination) -- I said "the child needs to go crabbiing with string and a chicken neck....she will learn coordination and how to feed herself, if she needs to survive"
Other than reading and water skiing, my passion is texas history, I have a map that shows that our property is part of Austins original 300 land grants. There is a meeting today at the old Brazoria elementary school about fixing up the old Levi Jordan plantation, wish I could make that meeting but have other committments today. The museum in Angleton has a program next Saturday on the history of the American flag that I am planning on attending.
Of course I would be remiss I was giving my husband the "crabbing with a chicken neck and just a net" speech
as I was toting my Croc Hermes ....He pointed out if the Dems run the country into the ground you may have to go back to your "roots" to feed us
I assured him -- they could not do much worse than 43rd's second term
My son is 13 and been on a boat since he was three. He went from riding "ski bob" to a tube then knee board and now this last summer wakeboarding. We used to flounder fish when the mouth was open. I heard the flounder fishing was good under the 2611 bridge last weekend. Yea you should take Sinclair down to the river. We will take you on a boat ride, we don't have ski bob anymore. LOL but there are six year old twins next door she would love to play with and ride on the gater.
I kinda feel sorry for GW, I am sure he is pretty tired. With my husband's job we actually do a lot better when the price of oil skyrockets, he got a big raise out of the blue after IKE hit. We sold the Yukon XL, after you kid turns 12 it isn't cool to carpool anymore and we bought diesels. We make biodiesel in our garage. Stewarts grocery store in Brazoria gives us all their used veggie oil and we love to talk to bubba and here his cow stories.
hear, not here, my spelling is really getting bad in my old age.
Dont feel bad - obviously my spelling sucks pretty bad too, as much as I have pissed people off with my posts
I would not worry about the posts, like my great grandma would say, "the proof will be in the pudding". So, we will see what "the mutt's" (that's what he calls himself now) proof is. My mom is on her way over from a Republican Women's lunch right now, I can't wait to hear what the conversations were.
hey if you want a boat ride on the SB, email me, I put my email in your guestbook.
@ RicktheRepublican,
As a Democrat, my heart was also warmed when John McCain referred to Barack as "his president." In fact, I stayed up far past by bedtime on election night to blog in part about that. However, there are plenty of Republicans who are already doing the whole "He's not my president" chant. Go check out Sean Hannity's official myspace page and you'll see what I am saying.
I've stopped by this blog periodically and I have to admit I haven't always agreed with Kristi. However, I have an admiration for bloggers who write under their real names, putting their lives and thoughts on display. So, I think it is, well, kind of chicken sh1t to attack someone under anonymous or some awful name like osama obama. I mean, it is one thing to give compliments that way, but it is completely different when you are attacking them.
