Hurricane Ike Strikes

This is our backyard yesterday morning.  The water rose up 40 feet....four of our neighbors took trees through their homes.

Thank goodness no one was hurt -- but the damage was huge.

OMG, y'all be careful down there. No doubt all kinds of snakes and creepy-crawlies in that mess.

Must have been scary going through that. I remember Alicia in '83 but this looks much worse from what I've seen on Weather Channel and from what you show here. Post more pics if you can, ok?

My daughter's in-laws home in Pearland was destroyed by wind and then the rains came in. No gas, no electricity. It is bad! Our prayers for everyone there.

Hi Kristi:

I have been checking your blog for days to see that you and your family are alright. I live in Connecticut and cannot tell from the media coverage what the true extent of the damage is near you. I look forward to your story about it when you have power/time. I am sorry for the extent of damage that you seemed to have incurred, but thank goodness you and your family are ok!!!

I've thought about you every day. Was Sinclair terrified?

I may not be with you in person, but I'm there in spirit.

Hi Kristi, an old friend from Oklahoma City here. So pleased you are all safe - God kept you from harm. Please keep our middle boy Jon Berry (Bennett's brother) in prayers as he left for Iraq last week.

Sinclair is amazing, and quite a cut up I can tell.

Blessings,
Lisa Berry

The last of our "Ike Evidence" was just picked up. I paid a guy to move the giant crap pile put of the front yard...can't wait for the city. Ahhhh...feels so much better. Love the pic with the pool cleaner floating in the bayou. I thought it was a snake...
