In our exclusive photo Michael Phelps, who won a record EIGHT gold medals for swimming at the Beijing games last summer, draws from a bong. The glass pipes are generally used to smoke cannabis. And after sporting chiefs announced laws which mean four-year bans for drug-taking, Phelps’ dreams of adding to his overall 14 gold medal tally at the 2012 games in London could already be OVER.
Those dreams seemed the last thing on his mind when he puffed from the bong during two days of partying with students last November, a quiet time in the swimming calendar when athletes would not expect to get tested for drugs. One party-goer who witnessed the star’s behaviour told the News of the World: “He was out of control from the moment he got there. I say live and let toke! This guy worked his ass off and won EIGHT gold medals...he deserves a good time!...and we've ALL done it, so give me a break already! if he can smoke pot AND swim like he does...what's the harm?

I don't think less of him. He's already accomplished more at the age of 23 than most people will in an entire lifetime. Let the guy party, he's earned it. Although i'm sure his sponsors aren't happy about it.
You know his mother would like to pinch his little head right off at the shoulders but my goodness, let's not lose track of the big picture. Lawz a mercy..I am a full fledged self supporting law abiding adult who is VERY thankul there wasn't anyone around taking pictures of me when I was his age.
He's 23. He's supposed to make mistakes. He wasn't participating in the Olympics, so they don't have a say. The sponsors on the other hand... let's just hope they take a break at 4:20. This coming from your uptight sober friend.

I also don't think any less of him, it's just part of experiencing the ups and downs of life. In his case the HIGH'S and LOW'S! As a joke when Forrest won his 2 region titles and broke their records I told him Put the bong up your going to STATE! It was a joke of course and gave a lot of people a good laugh. Truthfully it's good to see people are human and with technology now a days you can't hide!
